Choose a scope the team can operate
A first Market needs more than a promising topic. It needs attributable sources, a stable enough category boundary, meaningful participant distinctions and a feasible correction cadence. A niche with many providers but no verifiable fields can be harder to launch than a smaller one whose buyers have clear comparison tasks. Record both source access and upkeep cost before selecting the first route.
- List candidate Markets with the same buyer task and first geography.
- Score evidence access, clear taxonomy, distinct participant value and operating burden.
- Select one narrow launch scope; record what was deliberately excluded.
Four-criterion selection matrix
| Decision field | Record or rule |
|---|---|
| Evidence access | attributable records can support useful profiles. |
| Structure | categories and roles reflect buyer choices rather than keywords alone. |
| Maintenance | change can be observed and corrected at a manageable cost. |

Explain what the chosen route excludes
Search1001 publicly exposes categories, capabilities, engines and integrations around a bounded technology territory. Those navigation axes show a possible data structure, not an automatic template for another sector. The selection memo should state which relationship types are useful for the chosen buyer and which are deferred. A smaller map with credible relationships can answer more than a large undifferentiated list.
A first Market selection meeting
Bring one row per candidate territory: buyer task, official source coverage, inclusion rule, category structure, update burden and the next available test. The meeting should choose one bounded implementation scope, not a permanent winner for every adjacent opportunity. Record the rejected routes and their reopening triggers. Search1001 shows that a focused technology territory can support several relationship axes, but a new industry should earn each axis from its own buyer tasks and evidence. That is how the selection matrix constrains the build rather than decorating a choice already made.
An existing page count is no forecast
Do not infer the value of an unbuilt Market from the number of pages in an existing one. The selection matrix judges feasibility of the new scope, not guaranteed traffic.
