Escalate only the unresolved decision
A first-pass check can reject an idea, refine its scope or identify a question worth deeper work. A Launch Case is justified when alternatives, commercial sensitivity or operational constraints could change a bounded commitment. Write those unresolved questions into the handoff. The next stage should not repeat the same high-level scan under a new label.
- Use the first-pass result to name the unresolved decision, not merely the next product.
- Ask whether evidence about alternatives, economics or constraints could reverse the direction.
- Escalate to a reviewed decision pack only if the business commitment warrants it.

|---|---|
| Micro Launch | opportunity signal and GO DEEPER, REFINE or STOP. |
| Launch Case | alternatives, risks, sensitivity and selected route. |
| Market | implementation and upkeep of the chosen territory. |

Match evidence depth to commitment
The public 1000&1 Micro Launch and Launch Case pages describe different decision depths. A small exploratory question may only need a first-pass signal and one next test. A Market build requires enough confidence in its boundary and source model to maintain useful records. A team with already reviewed evidence can enter at the appropriate depth, while preserving the decision trace.
To carry this decision forward, recheck the buyer problem; prepare the Market handoff.
An escalation example
A quick check finds a plausible buyer task and several providers, but the team cannot decide between a narrow specialist route and a broader category-led Market. The unresolved issues are source coverage, competitive alternatives and operating cost. Those belong in a Launch Case because they may reverse the implementation choice. By contrast, if the quick check exposes no coherent buyer task, deeper competitor research is unlikely to help until the problem is reframed. The handoff should state the question that deeper work must settle.
Choose depth from the unresolved risk
A company with an already well-defined, evidence-backed decision may not need the free first-pass exercise. The work depth should follow the uncertainty, not a rigid funnel.
